The art of doing nothing

When your days are filled with things that you have to do. When you’re used to running from one appointment to another. When you need to check your smartphone every hour afraid you’ll miss out on something. That’s when you’ll notice that doing nothing is far harder then you’d expect.

“To do nothing at all is the most difficult thing in the world, the most difficult and the most intellectual”

Oscar Wilde

Is doing nothing even possible? You’re always doing something, even if you’re doing nothing. And how art is doing nothing? It’s more difficult than doing something, that’s for sure. You always have to do something before you can do nothing. But that way, you’ll never get to do nothing. One can easily say: doing nothing is hard work.

Take your time. A bad conscience keeps you from doing nothing. Being lazy makes time stop, allows you to look at things from a bigger perspective, to daydream and to forget. If you manage to do so, you’ll find new strength, ideas and insights. Make us of your lazy hidden talent of doing nothing. Let the turtle decide the pace.

Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering
